GENERAL

Oh man, it’s so much to type, and my wrist kind of hurts. I’ll tell you what, you can read all about it right here!

You can subscribe to our newsletter, or follow us on your preferred social media for some highlights and updates on what’s happening. We’re on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, DiscordYouTube, Twitch… you get the idea.

Not really. We do have some panel sessions that can include coarse language or other adult themes, and some content may be restricted based on relevant age restrictions (such as R18+). We do our best to flag anything likely to fit into that category in our schedule. Attendees aged 15 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 years or older with their own badge. Children 6 and under can enter free without a badge, provided they're accompanied by an adult.

We know you’ll need hotel rooms, so we always do what we can to secure as many rooms as possible with the steepest discounts possible. Check out the inventory at our Hotels and Travel page.

Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre is a cashless venue. Only card payments will be permitted throughout PAX Aus and MCEC.

Tournament sign up happens on site on a first come, first served basis. Head on over to the area that the given tournament takes place (tabletop, PC, etc.) and the friendly Enforcers there will help get you set up.

Generally we clear after every panel with one exception - Friday morning between Storytime Session and the Penny Arcade Q&A. That’s the one instance where you don’t have to leave your seat. There may be other exceptions, but those exceptions are few and far between...refer to the schedule, once available, for additional information.

As a general rule, definitely as long as you can do it without obstructing pathways and preventing people from moving around. Also, please respect it if an attendee or exhibitor asks not to be captured on film...or...er...pixels….?

PAX is considered to be in the public domain, which is a roundabout and pretentious way of saying “Yes, you’re very likely to appear on SOMEONE’S camera.”

Mostly. Strollers are not permitted in the Expo Hall, but they are fair game everywhere else.

All Panels are first-come, first-served and access to all panel content comes free with your PAX badge. Our full panel schedule is available on our website about a month out from the show.

Enforcer applications will be open to returning enforcers, and then will be opened to further applications around the middle of the year if we need more.

Yes, Enforcers are paid at PAX.

In their applications, all enforcers list their preferences for departments, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

REGISTRATION

Since we can all agree that the past two years weren’t real and it’s still 2019, we’re keeping badges at the same price. 3-day badges at $175 and Single Day badges at $70.

Badges are limited to 6 per transaction for each badge type. This is to prevent scalping.

The PAX badge registration page will use a fair, first-come, first serve virtual queue system to ensure the platform is stable for everyone. Badge sales will go live from 12:00PM AEDT on Tuesday, 22nd March and you will be placed in the virtual queue until it is your turn to complete your purchase. The queue system will show your estimated wait time and will automatically refresh.

Important reminders:

- Do not close your window or tab. If you do, you will start again at the back of the queue.
- Accessing from multiple browsers or devices will not speed up your place in the queue.
- Cookies MUST be enabled to allow you to progress through to the queue system.

When it's your turn, you will automatically be redirected to the PAX Aus badge registration page.

The badge mailout deadline is Sunday, 21st of August 2022. For those badges purchased prior to Sunday, 21st of August you can expect to begin receiving your badges in September 2022. Any international badges purchased will not be mailed out and will need to be collected onsite from our badge collection desk.

As with every PAX we are going to use Twitch to livestream as many panels as possible, and the Discord server will let those who cannot attend continue to engage with the community and the show online. We won’t be doing virtual badges, or charging for this online content. We want as many people to be able to enjoy as much of PAX as possible this year!

Once badges sell out, they are gone for good, so if you are sure you want to attend it’s always best to get them as early as you can. Keep an eye on our social media profiles for badge availability updates once badges are on sale.

Please go to this link and update your new mailing details as soon as possible. Note that badge delivery details cannot be changed after the badge mailout deadline on the 21st of August has passed.

Yes, we expect no major changes to our standard media passes this year. Applications open on 22nd of March and can be made on our Registration page here.

Our formal application process for these badge types opens at the same time as our on sale badges, 22nd of March. Badges will be accredited in waves closer to the show: 31 May 2022, 29 July 2022 and 31 August 2022. Applications can be made on our Registration page here.

Our Terms and Conditions prohibit unauthorized resale or attempted resale of badges. If you buy badges from someone else, there's always a chance you're going to get taken advantage of and if that happens, there's nothing we can do for you as we have no part in the sale. We strongly urge you to only buy badges directly from this website, it's the only way to be sure.


PANELS & SHOW CONTENT

Absolutely panels will be back.

We livestream our largest theatres across our Twitch channels (/pax, /pax2, /pax3 and /paxaustraliaofficial) and all the action from PAX Arena (/paxarena). We’re looking at ways to record our non-streamed theatres too.

Panel submissions normally open around June, keep an eye on our socials and Discord for updates on panel submissions.

We would love to have our many international guests and friends of the show return, but if there's someone specific that you really want to see, connect with us on Twitter or Facebook. And stop asking about Critical Role.

Yes, Omegathon is happening this year and you will be given the chance to flag your interest in participating during the badge purchasing process. Not sure what the Omegathon is then click here.

Please keep an eye on the PAX Aus socials over the coming months for the latest announcements and updates of who will be attending. Exhibitors are normally ready to start announcing their plans for PAX around August/September time.

We’re still absolutely going to have all of our public freeplay areas, as well as looking at adding some new stuff.

Yep, and yep! PAX Arena will be back, we’ll also have our usual gamut of community tournaments as well.

We are currently working on our sanitation plans. In a normal year we’ll wipe everything down between uses, and we’re looking at how we can safely manage all our freeplay areas and what we need to add.

Yes! We typically open these things mid-year for the community focused board gaming through PAX Collaboratory. For more exhibitor booth style, we’re working on something for you too.

You better believe it!

Sadly no. We really needed to start looking at how we allocated rooms at the show and what we were using them for. In this case, we really wanted to expand Diversity Lounge/PAX Together and made the tough call to reallocate the space for something more of our fans can participate in.

Afraid so! You can get a good sense of our criteria on our safety and accessibility page, and your first stop should be at Info Desk for weapons check tagging for us to verify everything is legit and abiding by our criteria for safety.

If we have to hold your prop weapon for the show, we’re sorry, we wish things were different, and we’ll make sure you get it back when it’s time to leave. We’re charged with keeping tens of thousands of people we like an awful lot all safe and sound, and we’ve got to play things pretty conservatively when dealing with weapons (even in prop form).


VENUE

Absolutely. There is parking available at the venue and nearby. You can find all the costs and details here.

Yes! You can collect a programmed receiver that will allow you to switch channels for each of our theatres from the MCEC concierge desk. The receiver will work with hearing aids fitted with T Switches. There are a limited number and they must be returned daily, so if you are likely in need of assistance please email us so we can do our best to help!

We have medical badges available for those who may need assistance. Medical badges provide entrance to panels, expo hall, and other events provided any associated line has not already been capped to capacity. It is not a ticket on its own and must be obtained in addition to a regular badge. You can collect one at the registration desk during PAX. The prefill form is no longer required. You must show a government pension or similar paperwork regarding your need for the badge.

We also have Companion Passes available at the event. Companions may attend the event for free while they are accompanying a person requiring their care. The person they are accompanying must have a full priced ticket. Once the attendee requiring a companion has their ticket - the carer must email us their name, email and number and bring their companion card to the registration desk along with the original ticket holder where they will be issued a ticket.

Yes! However, be warned that a lot of your fellow attendees will also be using it, potentially clogging those invisible air-pipes. Try not to rely on it, because you may find it...unreliable.

We will indeed have cloakrooms scattered around the venue. Cloaking is available for a gold coin donation to Child’s Play.


HEALTH & SAFETY / COVID-19

We are working closely with the MCEC and we will take all necessary precautions for public health and follow national and local health guidelines that are in place at the time of PAX Aus, 7 - 9 October 2022.

We will continue to communicate any and all updates as we get closer to the event and keep an eye on the MCEC conditions of entry for the latest information.

PAX Aus will offer a refund or exchange of a badge if an event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated (and you cannot or do not wish to attend the rescheduled or relocated event) or to the extent otherwise required by law. Visit our Terms & Conditions for more information.

PAX Aus will not reimburse any costs or expenses incurred due to the cancellation of PAX Australia, other than your badge. You should carefully consider the refund and cancellation policies of travel, accommodation and other goods or service providers in the event of cancellation, rescheduling or relocation. Yes, 1000%. We will make it really clear what will be in place, and what expectations there are of the community to make sure PAX is a safe environment for everyone. This will come closer to the show when we know exactly what restrictions etc. we are contending with in October. But rest assured you won't be able to miss the info.
